Tutorial Week 7 COMM100

According to (Statista and TNW, 2019), has report the chart in picture that follows shows the trend of monthly active users (MAUs) on multiple social media platforms between 2004 and 2018. The y-axis quantifies the user base, from zero to over two billion people, while the x-axis shows time in years from 2004 to 2018. Therefore, the graph makes it clear that Facebook has a rapid rise, above 2 billion users by 2018. While it started rise after Facebook, YouTube shows a significant growth in its user base, which indicates that the consumption of video might be on the rise. WeChat, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other platforms have all seen significant growth; Instagram has grown at a rapid since 2012. On the other hand, the growth of Tumblr, Snapchat, and Twitter is more weak. In addition, Given the extent of Facebook and YouTube in communication and content consumption, a growing trend of social media platform use has major implications, The huge use of WhatsApp and Instagram suggests a desire for fast and visual communication. These trends also bring up issues with data privacy, the spread of false information, and the mental impacts of social media. So this evidence points to the a need for further of the social roles done in social media and may result in the recommendation of more strict platform policies as well as better user engagement strategy.
