Argument and Claim
Working Thesis Statement: Humankind is facing an imperative of deeply contemplating and addressing adequately the possible social consequences of the large-scale deployment of AI, with ChatGPT at the forefront.
Claims
Claim of Definition or Classification
In general, AI, like ChatGPT,' is classified as 'narrow AI', which describes AI systems designed for particular tasks (Ghorbani, 2023). On the other hand, these issues notwithstanding, they can have great societal consequences.
Claim of Cause and Effect
Adequate use of AI chatbots such as ChatGPT for decision-making processes may result in unforeseen consequences, as they can further amplify the problems of bias and inequalities (Dijk, 2023).
Claim of Value
Society should focus on the ethics of AI, especially ChatGPT designing and deployment, to ensure that it aligns with people's values and purposes (Hua et al., 2024).
Claim of Solutions or Policies
Establishing stringent governing mechanisms and ethical principles for the development and application of AI involving ChatGPT, among other technologies, is an indispensable step to contain the negative aspects and reap the most benefits (Hua et al., 2024).
Reflection
It was the most convenient way to consider the cause-and-effect problem since plenty of studies have been done on the possible adverse outcomes of AI technologies.
3
A call for solutions or policies is the most helpful argument since it may suggest a proactive step to solve the discussed problems.
The claim of the dealership, which is about ethics, seems to be the most engaging to write about because of its philosophical and moral complexity.
My claim of the solutions or measures implication will be based on new or additional research, allowing me to explore the current regulatory environment and suggest some feasible policy interventions.
It could be proposed that ethics and solutions/policies must be combined to underpin the urgent need for technology regulation.
