Assignment 3
Reflection on Class Productions
During the course of this year, I have had a chance to be the spectators for a number of theatre plays, each displaying its own picture, directly or indirectly with the life of common people. It is having actually studied these productions that gave me firsthand experience, which in turn provided me with the most valuable lessons and perspectives on how theatrical production operates.
Concerning the parallels between my group project and class production, the former and the latter were both targeting at making stories come true on stage, which calls for methods such as acting, directing, set design and lighting to attract the eyes of viewers and to arouse their imagination. As birds of a feather, my group project and class productions were intended to be collaborative among students of varying roles and responsibilities; therefore, the significance of teamwork and effective communication skills was also emphasized to ensure the realization of a cohesive and satisfying outcome.
Nevertheless, the most challenging issue I faced while collaborating with my peers was the fact that I was more familiar with my individual work than what my group mates had been assigned to do. For example, there was someone assigned as a director at the faculty or maybe a faculty member who provided guidance and direction during
the class productions while my student led participation in the project group depended
on student-to-student creative input and decision making. This contrast in leadership
apparatus uniquely shaped and developed the qualities that eventually displayed
themselves in the performances.
As well as that, the plays from our class had the biggest budgets and tools to
compliment the work. So, the sets and costumes used were more complicated and
technical effect too. However, our mentor project was quite restricted by the budget
limits and space constraints which compelled us to go further in our thinking so that
our production stage could be cinematic and speak to the audience in the correct way.
These sample will teach me quite a few things. Firstly, making the theatrical
production, big or small, a fruitful of work has taught me the perspectives of
collaborative and communicative efforts. Whether being the crew of a class
production or a group member of a smaller group project, teamwork is the main asset
to realize your artistic image and to turn all ideas into stage picture.
Initially, I have explored the concept that adaptability and thinking outside the box
can be a solution for the indebted issues. Although the performances of the class were
equipped with more resources, but the relevance of my group-work was of showing
an inventive and resourceful way to overcoming technical and logistical issues.
What’s more, I have learnt a lot from the teamwork I involved in the class productions versus their group project. It is from these activities that you can see how theaters are hard to manage. Through the contemplation of the same and varied procedures involving producing drama on stage, I have developed my working knowledge of the collaborative nature of theater and the many methods that can be employed to bring narratives to life.
We should also add some similarities in terms of aiming to tell the story on stage and having the common approach to the collaboration and some distinctions as well, for instance, the leadership structure, available resources, and working conditions. This made me aware of the various ways the theatrical production can be done. We had the opportunity to work with the help of faculty and bigger budgets in class productions, whereas our student-driven project forced us into miniscule budget and also required resourcefulness and creativity. This highlighted the need for efficient teamworkability, adaptability, and creativity in dealing with issues of that arise during the process of realization whether large or small scale. As for the future, I plan to strike a collaboration chord in my upcoming theatrical adventures while at the same time, supporting creativity, and coming up with insightful ideas to generate stories that will raise people off their seats!
