PROJECT OUTCOME

The outcome is an insightful brochure about Internally Displaced Persons and their suffering. We want to raise awareness on the issues of IDPs and show how different people view them while taking in account the cultural perspectives.

Our investigation into the 2022 Pakistan Floods offered insights into diverse cultural perspectives, primarily focusing on the experiences of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Despite governmental assurances, firsthand accounts revealed the harsh reality faced by IDPs, who struggled with minimal assistance, resorting to desperate measures like begging for essentials while grappling with food shortages and inadequate medical care. This dire situation resulted in the spread of waterborne diseases and tragically, the loss of innocent lives, particularly among children.

Conducting surveys and interviews across Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh unearthed distinct challenges in each context. In Bangladesh, there was a pressing need for settlement support, including shelter, livelihood assistance, and access to education. Meanwhile, India witnessed a swift response from both the government and external organizations, yet IDPs still described the aftermath as nothing short of a catastrophe.

By juxtaposing these responses and interventions, we highlighted the nuanced approach to crisis management on an international scale, offering avenues for individual contributions and support. Our objective was twofold: to raise awareness of the ongoing struggles faced by IDPs and to underscore the tangible impact of collective action and solidarity.

Through our comparative analysis, we shed light on the disparities in governmental responses and underscored the imperative of global cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises. It is our hope that by amplifying these narratives, we can galvanize meaningful change and mobilize resources to alleviate the suffering of those affected by natural disasters. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of IDPs and pave the way for a more resilient and compassionate future.
