Slide: Problem Identification

InsurePro, a leading insurance company, faces significant internal challenges despite its outward success. The primary issues identified include:

1. Culture of Corruption:

- People of one rank or above in various departments, committed fraud through bogus claims and taking bribes.

- Staff was aware of these going on but felt helpless or scared with the threat of retaliation, so no one reported.

2. Regulatory Non-Compliance:

- The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) detected the level of misconduct in financial auditing and the lack of protection of consumers and financial stability.

- Complaint and an anonymous tips signaled investigations conducted that led to a discovery of a massive misconduct across the whole organization.

- Since there was 263 clients’ claims not covered, it was difficult to reestablish trust in InsurePro after it had been found to have failed to live up to promises, and the company’s customers and shareholders felt disloyal.

- InsurePro's existence is endangered by the regulatory investigation and the negative public image which it is facing. Due to this, the insurer loses trust in the community.

- Legal limitations could well have a secondary negative effect on already provoked loss of reputation and finances.

- Lack of compliance with regulations' requirements, which give possible systemic challenges.

Toxic Organizational Culture:

- Ill-intentioned managers contaminate an entire organizational culture with fear and silence and the latter leaves the employees helpless.

- The absence of fate and responding in an unethical manner.

Ineffective Employee Engagement:

- Workers are so worried that they do not dare to make any reports because they know they can get punished for it.

- There are no systems which work on encouraging transparency and whistleblowing.
