To begin with I would like to acknowledge that the Certificate in Human Research Ethics in Social Sciences and Humanities have transformed me into someone who has a clearer perspective on research issues concerning the social sciences and humanities. This reflection sets forth the chief lessons from the certificate program, such as the purpose for undertaking the course learning and telling how I want to use the new knowledge in pursuing my academic and professional adventures.
The certificate program profoundly impacted me in many aspects; particularly, it included the extensive coverage of ethical principles and guidelines on research involving human participants. I was introduced to the fundamental tenets of research ethics, including the responsibility of practitioners, beneficence, justice and non-maleficence.
