Introduction

In the busy urban areas of Pakistan, a significant problem affecting many women is the difficulty of moving around. Women, including students and working women, encounter serious safety issues when using traditional transportation options, especially at night. Instances of harassment and assault are like threatening shadows, causing women to feel afraid and hesitant about traveling alone. This widespread problem limits their opportunities for education, job opportunities, and social participation, while also continuing a pattern of reliance and susceptibility.

Coming to understand the seriousness of this situation, a resolution arises: "She is behind the wheel." This new project is not only a business venture, but also represents a dedication to changing social standards and enabling women to move freely. By taking a holistic approach, "She Drives" aims to tackle the systemic deficiencies in existing transportation choices, providing a source of security and autonomy for women in developed areas of Pakistan.

The significance of focusing on women's movement should not be underestimated. Aside from the immediate safety worries, women's economic and social empowerment is closely tied to their freedom of movement within their communities. "She Drives" strives to eliminate obstacles, create chances, and accelerate positive transformations by offering a dependable and safe transport option designed for women. This proposal aims to both advocate for the importance of "She Drives" in today's context and to provide a detailed plan for its execution. By carefully planning and carrying out our actions, we aim to reduce safety risks for women and promote a culture that is inclusive and empowering. This proposal will include a thorough analysis of the issue, a comprehensive look at the "She Drives" solution, and a plan for successfully implementing it.

Problem Statement

In the busy cities of Pakistan, numerous women face a widespread and pressing issue: the dangerous safety concerns linked to transportation. Women, including students, working professionals, and homemakers, face a maze of fear and vulnerability when using traditional cab services, particularly at night. The threat of harassment and assault looms over their travels, limiting their freedom and diminishing their feeling of safety. This ongoing feeling of instability not only weakens women's basic rights but also creates major obstacles for them in getting education, jobs, and participating in social events.

The data presents a harsh depiction of the actual conditions experienced by women in

Pakistan. As per a policy brief released by the Asian Development Bank in 2016, an

alarming 85% of females claimed they had encountered harassment while using public

transportation. The high frequency of harassment puts women's physical safety at risk

and causes deep emotional and psychological damage, leading to a culture of fear and

insecurity. Also, the 2022 Global Gender Gap Index Report emphasizes the significant

gender gaps in Pakistan, with low rankings in women's economic involvement,

educational achievements, and health and survival aspects. The gender pay gap of 34%

worsens the socio-economic obstacles women encounter, adding to the difficulties they

face in moving up and having independence.

The public transportation system in Pakistan, especially in urban areas such as Karachi,

has been labeled as the most inadequate globally, affecting millions of locals. Although

ride-hailing services such as Careem and Uber are widely available, research shows that

many female passengers still experience feelings of physical insecurity when using

these services. As per Careem's data, more than 3.3 million females had utilized their

services in Pakistan by June 2021. Nonetheless, in a 2019 research conducted by the

Digital Rights Foundation (DRF), it was discovered that 28% of users experienced

feelings of physical insecurity when using Careem or Uber in Pakistan, emphasizing the

ongoing safety issues faced by female commuters.

The consequences of these safety issues reach far past the immediate dangers to

women's physical health. It infiltrates all aspects of their life, blocking their ability to

attain education, work, and social experiences. The fear of being harassed while

traveling to school can prevent students from taking advantage of academic

opportunities or consistently attending classes. In the same way, female employees

encounter difficult obstacles in finding job options, as the fear of unsafe transportation

stops them from joining the workforce. For stay-at-home parents, not being able to

travel on their own limits their involvement in social events, ability to get important

services, and ability to meet family obligations.

Proposed Solution: She Drives

"She Drives" is a transformative solution addressing safety concerns for female

travelers in Pakistan, providing safety, empowerment, and autonomy for women

nationwide. "She Drives" revolutionizes transportation by catering to female passengers'

specific needs, setting a higher bar for safety, dependability, and inclusiveness.

Explanation of the She Drives Idea

"She Drives" is an innovative project that transforms the idea of ride-sharing by

specifically pairing female passengers with female chauffeurs. This new method

guarantees increased safety and comfort for women, getting rid of the anxiety and

exposure linked to traditional transportation options. "She Drives" builds a female-

focused environment to empower women, allowing them to regain control of their

movement and independence, promoting confidence and peace while traveling.

Target Audience Analysis

The intended demographic for "She Drives" includes women from 16 to 55 years old,

consisting of professionals, students, and homemakers in areas like Islamabad, Lahore,

Peshawar, Karachi, and DHA. These women make up a large part of the population that

has encountered difficulties in finding safe and dependable transportation choices. "She

Drives" seeks to confront these obstacles by offering a specialized and safe

transportation option designed specifically for the distinct requirements of women

riders.

The main emphasis of "She Drives" is to provide employment opportunities for women

working as drivers. "She Drives" helps increase employment, especially for women with

limited access to traditional jobs, by providing job opportunities in transportation.

Moreover, "She Drives" offers part-time job options for students and those wanting

flexible work schedules, making it more attractive to a variety of potential drivers.

Additionally, "She Drives" not only offers rides but also plays a crucial part in boosting

the economic growth of the areas it operates in. "She Drives" boosts the country's GDP

and overall economic prosperity by enhancing transportation services and promoting

greater economic activity. "She Drives" in Pakistan actively supports the economic

empowerment of women through employment opportunities and empowerment

programs, in line with larger objectives of gender equality and inclusive econo
