Diversity in the workplace is when the organization comprises people of various races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, physical abilities, and many other demographics. Diversity in the workplace fosters a sense of belonging that makes each feel included in the team. (Carter, 2021) Encompassing diversity in the workplace increases flexibility, creativity, and knowledge sharing, thus leading to increased productivity. Having worked at Cal-Maine Foods, the paper will explore diversity in various areas of my organization.

The organization, Cal-Maine Foods, is headed by Sherman Miller, the president, and the chief executive officer. The organization is located in Mississippi and ensures that it establishes an equitable treatment environment. The board of directors and senior managers comprises 22% females and 78% males. Moreover, 14% of the board members and senior managers are from various ethnic minority groups, while 86% represent various large ethnic groups. (Cal-Maine Foods Number of Employees, Statistics, Diversity, Demographics, and Facts - Zippia, 2022) The diverse leadership of the organization encourages curiosity and open-mindedness, which promotes self-growth and learning from each other. (Carter, 2021) The culture enables the workforce to embrace change and view the various challenges as opportunities for self-growth and development.

The organization has approximately 3400 employees, with females representing 29% of the total employees. 56% of the Cal-Maine Foods employees are white, 21% of the employees are Hispanic or Latino, and 15% are Black or African American. Most of the employees are members of the Republican Party and have worked for an average of 3.3 years in the organization. (Cal-Maine Foods Number of Employees, Statistics, Diversity, Demographics, and Facts - Zippia, 2022) From the above-discussed demographics of the Cal-Maine Foods Company, it is evident that Cal-Maine has dramatically succeeded in ensuring diversity in the

workplace. However, the organization lacks political diversity. Lack of political diversity leads to limited perspectives and reduced employee morale.

The customers of Cal-Maine Foods exhibit extensive diversity from various demographic backgrounds, i.e., gender, age groups, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses. Compared to the diversity of the company's management and staff, the company's customers exhibit more diversity. Customer diversity means an increased number of customers, thus increasing revenues.

Diversity in the workplace dramatically affects an individual's career. All-inclusive working environments promote job satisfaction and often make employees feel comfortable.

Diversity also fosters loyalty among employees and makes them more inclined to stay longer at companies where their unique contributions are recognized. Moreover, diversity in the workplace makes it easier to target a broader range of customers, thereby increasing the organization's profit margins.
