1.0 Introduction
Throughout the whole of my postgraduate programme in Global Business Management, I have gone through a curriculum that strives to expose me to a variety of topics covered in an attempt to create a rounded education of world business and management. During the last three semesters, I have been able to familiarise myself with complex theories, work with different people from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and develop a set of research and management skills. The experience has been incredible and I can admit that it has been a transformative journey. In this paper, I will reflect on my learning journey, which includes course work during the first two semesters and a dissertation during the final semester, while assessing how well the programme’s goals and learning objectives were implemented in my learning journey.
2.0 Body
2.1 First Two Semesters of Teaching and Learning
2.1.1 Goal 1: Be Independent, Reflective Critical Thinkers
2.1.2 Objective 2. Achieve the second goal: be aware of both culture and ethics
The second point of achievement may be related to cultural and ethical awareness as a result of the program. Especially collaborative work and group projects related to it formed the skill and knowledge about other cultures and ethics. For the Business Game, I worked in one team with my group mates from other countries and continents. This experience made me communicate wis
and understood the principles of other people of different cultures and ethics. Therefore, the skill of seeing matters, problems, and business challenges globally was obtained. Moreover, even the real focus of the course on ethical issues and the ethical considerations during the dissertation pushed me to use an ethical framework while making business arrangements.
2.1.3 Objective 3. Achieve the third goal: have ability to practise management and leadership
The third academic achievement may be connected with the practice of management and leadership. In all modules, participants could learn and continue to practise how to manage and what is management at all. The Residential Weekend and Business Game indicated the leadership skills, managing actions and communication with other students and professors. This exercise showed me how I can be adaptive, resilient, and think strategically as a leader. Moreover, during the managing tasks in the group, I learned and tried to practise how I can work with other team members according to their managerial abilities and things that should improve.
2.1.4 Goal 4: Have Developed Leadership and Management Capability
By the time of the fourth goal, one should develop and successfully apply the knowledge of international business and management theory. This program allowed learning the theory’s various aspects due to its extensive curriculum. I gained a strong grasp of topics like cross-cultural management, international finance, and how to enter global markets through class discussions, assignments, and case studies. The dissertation’s literature review enabled me to delve deeper into specific theories and question how applicable they may be in the real world.
One should possess a broad range of research skills and project capabilities by the end of the fifth goal. The third semester involved a dissertation, which provided me with the opportunity to expand my research abilities in a capstone type of experience. I learned skills like formulating research questions, conducting literature reviews, and selecting the best methodologies for data collection and analysis. My project capabilities were also improved by the project as I discovered how to carefully plan and manage my time and how to ensure that I am paying close attention to elements.
2.2 Producing Your Dissertation in Semester 3
2.2.1 Goal 6: Developed Specialist Knowledge of Business and Management from a Global Perspective
During the third semester, you will be tasked with producing your dissertation. My learning journey was significantly assisted by the dissertation as it offered me the opportunity to integrate and implement information I learned from the entire program. I chose a topic related to international business management since it was also directly related to what I want to be professionally and interesting to explore. Doing independent research that involves reviewing previous literature, collecting and analysing data was tough, but it was personally satisfying. This was because I was able to improve my critical thinking skills and how to solve challenging issues systematically during this semester. My data interpretation, academic writing, and conducting a successful argument greatly improved because of my time working on the dissertation.
Furthermore, this semester has provided me with the chance to use ethical guidelines in practice because I am one who determines the honesty and reliability of both these methods and findings.
The sixth objective is to gain specialised knowledge in business and management from a global perspective. By participating in the Master of Science in Global Business Management program, I was able to acquire specialised knowledge in business and management from a global perspective. Through the coursework and dissertations completed, I have been able to research various topics such as international trade, global supply chain management, and mergers and acquisitions that span international boundaries. Therefore, I have a deeper understanding of how global markets are interconnected and the various challenges and opportunities faced by businesses operating at the international level.
3.0 Conclusion
To conclude, my venture through the postgraduate Global Business Management program has transformed me and expanded my knowledge, experience, and judgement much beyond what it used to be. By fully actualizing the programs’ goals and learning objectives into the curriculum, I have gained a solid and ever-growing base upon which I can establish a career in the global business management sector.
